The arrest of the director of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK), Jelena Perović, is a clear signal and message that we will continue with the firm hand of a just and determined state with which there will never be games or compromises, announced Aleksa Bečić, Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Internal Policy, European and foreign affairs.
Perović was arrested today in an operation by the Special Police Department (SPO).

"I highly commend another successful operation by the Special Police Department (SPO) of the Police Directorate (UP) and the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT). We promised transparency, efficiency and fairness in the security system, and today's arrest shows that we are on the right track. This is another example of the excellent cooperation between the security sector and the prosecutor's office, which I spoke about yesterday at the meeting with the director. There are no privileged people, no compromises with the basic values of society and, definitely, no untouchables. This arrest is a clear signal and message that we will continue with a firm hand of justice a determined state with which there will never be games or compromises again," Bečić pointed out in a statement delivered by his cabinet.
He added that as the Deputy Prime Minister for Security and coordinator of the intelligence and security sector, he promises to do everything in his power to ensure that the 44th Government of Montenegro provides optimal conditions for the efficient and professional performance of its duties.
"There is room in our country only for those who believe in justice and the purity of institutions. I congratulate all the brave and persistent members of the security sector and the Special State Prosecutor's Office who worked day and night to implement the previous and this action. Good luck to Montenegro in the new historical chapter, where we show that no one is above the law. Let these principles be the measure of our patriotism," said Bečić.
In the initial statement from Bečić's office, the sentence "this is another example of excellent cooperation between the security sector and the prosecution, which I spoke about yesterday at Europol at the meeting with the director", was not mentioned.
Also in that announcement, it was stated that Becic said "this arrest is a clear signal and message that we will continue with a firm hand against all forms of criminality".
