The representative of Montenegro in the United Nations (UN) should not vote for the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, the Socialist People's Party (SNP) said, stating that they are advocating for the reconciliation of peoples through mutual dialogue and understanding.
SNP deputy Bogdan Božović said that the party's position is that "a war crime has undeniably occurred".
He also said that the SNP condemns all crimes on the territory of the former Yugoslavia, regardless of who the perpetrators are.
"Resolving critical issues from the past is important, but with the consensus of all involved parties and mutual understanding that results from open dialogue, and not through passing resolutions on mutual condemnation," Božović pointed out in a statement to the media.
As he stated, the reconciliation of the peoples living in Bosnia and Herzegovina is of vital importance for its future, as well as for the future and prosperity of the entire region of the former state.
Božović said that only through mutual cooperation can a better life be provided for all citizens.
"Due to all of the above, we believe that the representative of Montenegro in the UN should not vote for the Resolution," said Božović.
