The Parliamentary Club of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) will initiate a hearing of the Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Democrats Aleksa Bečić, Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković and Chief Special Prosecutor Vladimir Novović regarding the circumstances that followed yesterday's action by the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) in which the director of the Agency for prevention of corruption Jelena Perović.
The DPS said that Bečić, who is the coordinator of the Bureau for Operational Coordination (BOK), welcomed the arrest of Perović, which was not confirmed by the competent institutions and was reported by Vijesti.
"... By which he exerted inappropriate political pressure on the judicial authorities... The practice of government representatives targeting people who should be deprived of their freedom and suggesting this to the competent authorities is not in accordance with the legal and ethical standards of a democratic society and the rule of law, and raises the suspicion that judicial bodies work under the pressure of media and political influences," the press release of the DPS Deputies Club states.
They say that anyone who has violated the law should be held accountable, but that the "obvious agenda by which the judicial authorities are guided when choosing priority cases" should not be ignored.
