President of the Parliament of Montenegro Andrija Mandic and deputy of the Democratic People's Party Milan Knezevic yesterday they attended an exercise of the Serbian Army at the "Pešter" temporary training ground near Sjenica.
This caused sharp reactions from the opposition in Montenegro, especially since Mandić is also a member of the Council for Defense and Security of Montenegro.
Head of the Parliamentary Club of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Andrija Nikolić, asked yesterday at the parliamentary session what Mandić was doing at the exercises of the Serbian Army on the Pešter plateau and who he was representing there.
Nikolić said that it is important for the Montenegrin public to know the answer to that question, especially in light of, as he said, the warning tones that could be heard at the meeting in Banja Luka on Thursday evening.
"There is a threat of secession of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Banja Luka, and some moves are being announced that can destabilize the region we live in, and in this sense it is particularly problematic what Mandić, as a member of the Defense and Security Council, is doing on the military exercises of the Serbian army," said Nikolić.
Vice President of the Assembly Boris Pejović (Movement Evropa Sad), which presided over the session, did not have an answer to Nikolić's question.
"I have no information, nor can I give an answer then. I suggest you ask that question when Mr. Mandić will preside over the parliament and I believe you will get an answer", he said.
The Assembly did not answer the questions of "Vijesti" in which capacity Mandić was at the exercise and who he represented there, and who invited him and why he decided to attend the exercise. "Vijesti" also asked if Mandić thinks that as a man who covers one of the three highest positions in Montenegro, he had a place in the exercise of the neighboring country's army and if he expects the coalition partners from the state government to resent him.
MP of DPS Jevto Erakovic wrote on the X network that Mandic is attending a military exercise of the Serbian Army "with live ammunition in the company of the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik and Milan Knežević".
"Hello Brussels, can we hear from the roar of the howitzers," Erakovic wrote.
Knežević answered him:
"Hello, is that you, Jevto? Turn zero, I can't hear you from the MIGs. Or send a message if it's urgent, the tanks are moving now," Knežević wrote on the X network.
More than 2.000 members of the Serbian Army and about 350 military equipment participated in the exercise at Pešter, Tanjug reported.
The finalists of the Joint Tactical Exercise were also attended by the KFOR commander, Major General Ozkan Wanderer, who came to Pešter at the invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Army, General Milan Mojsilović.
The joint tactical exercise with combat shooting Vihor 2024 was carried out by the Second Brigade of the Ground Army, reinforced by a part of the Serbian Army.
