The president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Danijel Živković, says that it is the obvious intention of the prosecution to detain former chief special prosecutor Milivoj Katnić, even at the cost of his life.
He called on "all actors to return to respect for the rule of law and the principle of respect for the dignity of every individual", saying that anything else would mean "pushing the state into a drama that can have unfathomable consequences, because in Montenegro it was always known that a head without a face is not worth and that honor and reputation are defended by all means".
"The letter that Milivoje Katnić sent to his family, which represents a kind of will, indicates his alarming state of health, which can lead to death. A man who held one of the most important state functions and who was a judge of the Court of Appeal for decades - and then and the chief special prosecutor, who is well into his seventh decade of life, did not deserve this kind of treatment," Živković said.
"I am aware that the address of the president, the 'organized criminal group' as some of his persecutors call the Democratic Party of Socialists, will not help Milivoj Katnić. Nor do I expect that after this reaction, the prosecution will give up its obvious intention to detain Katnić, even at the cost of his life. Nevertheless , it is a human and personal obligation of all of us to raise our voice and point out the inhumane treatment and treatment that Katnić has while staying in UIKS", states the president of DPS, and adds:
"I know that his imprisonment was desired by many in Montenegro, especially those who were then targeted by the work of the prosecutor's office that he managed, and there were not a few of them. The public remembers that the former chief special prosecutor led a series of cases that resulted in the deprivation freedom of numerous DPS officials. We never commented on it - we left the institutions to do their work through respect for the presumption of innocence. However, we cannot forget the announcements of Katnić's arrest by the then opposition, who vowed to send him to Spož as soon as possible. come to power."
That, says Živković, "is obviously the price that Katnić is paying today."
"The price of political changes which, in a fit of sick and enraged revanchism, tries to judge and judge all those who were prominent state officials before the political changes.
