Now our forces are focused on obtaining the IBAR in June, in order to close a large number of negotiation chapters by the end of the year, which would definitely bring Montenegro into the finalization of the process, said the Vice-President of the Government of Montenegro for Security, Internal Policy, European and Foreign Affairs Aleksa Becic.
He said this at a formal working lunch in Villa "Gorica" where he hosted the President of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar and a delegation. The lunch was also attended by the Ambassador of Slovenia to Montenegro Bernarda Gradišnik, Minister of Foreign Affairs Filip Ivanović and Minister of European Affairs Maida Gorčević.
Bečić, as stated in the announcement of the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for Security, Internal Policy, European and Foreign Affairs, expressed his satisfaction with the visit of President Pirc Musar, stressing that our two countries have long-standing friendly and political relations.
"Your visit gives another strong seal to our excellent political relations, because if two countries can be said to have extraordinary relations devoid of any open questions, and full of sincere support and a friendly approach, then they are Montenegro and Slovenia. Thank you for being great promoters, advocates and affirmers of our European path and that you have shown it with numerous works", emphasized Bečić.
The Government stated that Bečić pointed out that the 44th Government began its mandate in an extremely sensitive political moment, which, as he said, was characterized by the dysfunctionality of institutions and a kind of blockage of the European integration process, but, despite this, managed to achieve in a short time deliver very noticeable results.
"In a very short time, we managed to unblock key institutions, carry out appointments in the judiciary and start a strong fight against organized crime and corruption. The trust and healthy institutional relationship between the security sector and the competent prosecutor's offices, first and foremost the SPO and SDT, but also the high-quality cooperation with Europol, have enabled us to achieve extraordinary results on an almost daily basis and start the process of restoring citizens' trust in the institutions of the system and themselves building strong institutions that are the basis of a secure future," said Bečić.
Pirc Musar praised the achieved results and the government's determination to fight for national and regional stability, necessary in a period of great challenges and conflicts in the world.
"I am extremely glad that Montenegro and Slovenia do not have any open issues, but cultivate exclusively friendly relations. In us you have a sincere ally and you can count on our help on the way to EU membership. We are witnessing that Montenegrin society is experiencing a kind of revival in this period "I have heard about numerous results in the field of the rule of law and the fight against organized crime and corruption. I wish you to continue on that path and to be the first to salute the European flag in Montenegro," Pirc Musar concluded.
