The creators of independent Montenegro did not stabilize it in 15 years, but by creating a system based on crime and corruption, they slowed down its European path, but there can be no redrawing of the borders in the Balkans "in these geopolitical circumstances", a representative of the Albanian Forum told "Vijesti" Nikola Camaj.

He stated this while commenting on the statements of the former President of the State and the Government Milo Đukanović that the "Open Balkans" is an attempt to institutionalize the dominance of Serbia and Albania" and "an overture for the creation of a great Serbia and its counterbalance - Albania within natural limits".

"For me, 'Open Balkans' is an attempt to institutionalize the dominance of Serbia and Albania in the Western Balkans. And every attempt to dominate any country in the Western Balkans, history reminds us, always led to war. When the nationalist spirit comes out of the bottle, there is no authority, neither domestic nor international, that can prevent the escalation of nationalism, the renewal of instability and even war conflicts", said Đukanović in an interview with Antena M.

He said that it is possible that it is a project of the "playful" chairman of the board of directors of the "For an open society" foundation. Alexander Soros and son-in-law of the former President of the United States of America Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, but that it is also possible that the USA wants to separate Serbia from Russia and to "stop the political and diplomatic destruction of Serbia when it comes to the international recognition of Kosovo".

According to his opinion, the USA, i.e. The State Department "selfishly absolutizing their interests ignores the major political damage they are doing in the region" and adds that they think "they have become so widespread that it is now difficult to repair them painlessly".

"I try to understand the concerns of the creators of sovereign Montenegro, but I believe that they cannot shift the blame to others for their concern, because they had 15 years to stabilize what we created together, by nurturing European values. But, as I have emphasized many times, they created a system based on corruption and organized crime, which stopped the European agenda, and the citizens punished them for that," said Camaj.

He said that now it is up to some others to try to build Montenegro on those values.

"If we adhere to the (coalition) agreement, we will be the next member of the EU. If his (Đukanović's) fear has a basis, it won't last long for us, like the majority. I think that there are enough political forces and intelligence in Montenegro not to waste this chance for the sake of others' interests, and even less for the sake of personal interests," said Camaj.

He said that no official from Albania or Kosovo has ever mentioned advocating for Albania within natural boundaries, while the "overture" about a great Serbia from Djukanović's statement was mentioned. "It is not correct to draw such a parallel," said Camaj.

Camaj said that he is one of the few Albanian politicians who was once against the "Open Balkans", and that he agreed with Đukanović, but because "Kosovo was not included as an equal partner", and that otherwise "it would be a long-term solution for the establishment of a permanent agreement between Serbs and Albanians, and thus (would) get the Balkans without political turbulence.

"I certainly see Montenegro as an equal member in that story," he stated.

The leader of the Democratic Party, Fatmir Đeka, assessed that Montenegro has experience in conducting national politics, but also that it "always developed strongly when it was in larger state communities".

"That is why it is in the deepest interest for it to be a member of the EU as soon as possible, but also to have the best relations with neighboring countries. This also means with Albania, which has always had a good relationship with Montenegro. It is the same now, so I see no need to a kind of "balance of fear" is being created from our larger neighbors. Albania and Albanians do not threaten Montenegro," concludes Đeka.
