The International Secretary of the Social Democrats (SD) Miloš Đuričković reacted to the statement of the parliamentary club Pokreta Evropa Sad, from which they stated today that they respect the resolution of the Assembly on the genocide in Srebrenica from 2021, but that they are against using that topic "for daily political purposes, because it is a question that opens the wounds of the past".
Đuričković says that reminding the PES of 2009 and the adopted Declaration on the acceptance of the European Parliament's resolution on Srebrenica does not justify "today's silence and lack of time" of that party to declare about "the UN resolution on which the whole world declares itself."
He also reminds that the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica from 2021 was adopted at the initiative of the opposition, "for which part of you voted because of the armchairs and at the request of the international community."
"Montenegro, as a candidate for the EU, has an obligation to harmonize its foreign policy with the EU. The EU's position regarding the UN resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica is clear. Your position regarding this initiative is unclear. Your mention of resolutions for genocides committed in our area , have nothing to do with Srebrenica and the UN resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica," says the SD official.
He asked who equates the responsibility of an individual with the responsibility of a nation. "With this comment, you have just joined the shameful disinformation campaign of official Belgrade, which presents the 'Resolution' as an attack on the Serbian people," he said, and concluded:
"The resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, initiated by Germany and co-sponsored by almost the entire region, the EU and the USA, is to you 'opening the wounds of the past'? What do you propose, gentlemen from the Movement Europe Now, that we forget? That the whole world forget and remain silent because you don't have spine to state the obvious. In the case of Montenegro, just like with other countries in the region, the matter is very simple. Co-sponsor the resolution or align yourself with the official Belgrade".
