The United Nations Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica aims to raise awareness of the genocide in Srebrenica and genocide in general through the globalization of the culture of remembrance of that genocide, the prohibition of its denial, honoring the victims of genocide, establishing educational mechanisms through educational systems, commemorations and other activities, all with the ultimate with the goal that nothing like this ever happens to anyone, announced the leader of the Bosniak Party, Ervin Ibrahimović.
"Montenegro, as a country that has already expressed its position on the genocide in Srebrenica through two documents of the Parliament of Montenegro, should, through the co-sponsorship of this Resolution, be part of the global effort to raise awareness of the genocide in Srebrenica to express the only correct civilized attitude towards this genocide and genocide in general. This is especially due to the fact that already 22 countries of the world, including some of the most important foreign policy partners of our country, by co-sponsoring this Resolution have expressed their clear position on the importance and need to express a responsible attitude towards the past through this globalization of the culture of remembrance of the genocide in Srebrenica and the future", stated the president of BS.
"Strongly rejecting any attempt to intentionally misinterpret the goal of the Resolution to present it as an attempt to impose collective guilt on any nation, but also any attempt to relativize with the story of forward-looking and retrogradely present the culture of memory of the genocide in Srebrenica, I call on the Government of Montenegro to calculations and double-mindedness, clearly, unequivocally and strongly stands by the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica and thus places Montenegro where it has been until now and where it belongs, in the club of states of developed democracy and with high civilizational standards that have only the right attitude towards this issue and in the club of countries that do not support genocide either by publicly denying it or by not complaining about it through silence", said Ibrahimović.
