Andrea Marstjepović, councilor of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the Bar Municipality Assembly, said that it will be remembered that the councilors' club is Democrats, by avoiding the discussion on objections to the Draft Spatial Plan of Montenegro and taking a position in relation to the demands expressed by the citizens on public debate, on the construction of the LNG terminal, the destruction of Crmnik villages and other issues, showed that they are not interested in the slightest how Bar will develop until 2040 and what harmful consequences the city will have due to certain guidelines defined by the Plan.
"This has a special weight if we know that among them is a councilor, who is also a member of the Parliament of Montenegro, who by the nature of things had to be the first to stand up for the interests of the citizens of Bar, that it was he who led and advocated the position of not participating in discussed and towards the end of the discussion with a party colleague, he left the hall, so as not to vote for the conclusions of the Bar Municipal Assembly, which we believe would 'anger' his superiors in the party headquarters," Marstjepović announced.
She said that the Democrats are a party of "political spineless" who "do not have a position on any important issue".
"But at least, if for no other reason, as citizens of Bar and for the sake of the citizens of Bar, they should and had to show principle and express their position in their city, even at the cost of 'political slaps' within their party from their superiors. It is even more honest and brave, as some other fellow councilors did, to stay and vote against the conclusions and thereby take responsibility for their political actions," said Marstjepović.
"Parties and politics are fleeting, but we, our children, their children, we all remain here in Bar, and we only wonder how they will explain to their children tomorrow, when gas power plants, terminals, copper concentrate dust completely destroy the shine of this city, that could, but for the sake of political interests, they did not prevent it. We are afraid that it will be too late for them to take a stand, that is why we call on them now to make a public statement in relation to this issue, to clearly state their position to their colleagues in the state government and to together, without political differences and calculations, we contribute to the further development of the city. If they continue with this kind of political activity, we can rightly say that they will be complicit in all the harmful consequences that the city will suffer in the future," the statement concluded.
