The hiking and cycling trail, which will connect the three Montenegrin national parks - Durmitor, Biogradska gora and Prokletije with the Prokletije National Park in Kosovo, will be formed within the cross-border project "Across the peaks of the Dinarides - ViP DinaricA".

This was announced at the presentation of the project implemented by the Center for Initiatives in the Field of Sustainable Tourism (CSTI), Mountaineering Association of Montenegro (PSCG), Community Development Fund - CDF and Orienteering Club "Prishtina" from Pristina.

The executive director of the Center for Sustainable Tourism Initiatives (CSTI), Svetlana Vujičić, said today, at a press conference, that the value of the project in Montenegro is 220.727 euros, of which the European Union, as part of the IPA Cross-Border Program Montenegro - Kosovo, finances 84,4 percent.

"The project was created in order to create a new and recognizable tourist offer under the joint brand "ViP Dinarica". The development of this route, which will be 600 kilometers long, will contribute to the tourist valorization of rural communities, natural beauty, traditional products and the cultural and historical heritage of these national parks," said Vujičić in the PR Center.

According to her, by synergy with the concepts developed in the previous project initiatives - Via Dinarica and Vrhovi Balkana, ViP Dinarica will enable more than 1000 kilometers of trails to be connected to the mountain and bicycle path, thus connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo and Albania. .

"The project will be implemented through numerous activities, such as: a systematic list of the offers and activities of tourist actors, rural households, outdoor clubs and guides, the creation of a tourist offer of the ViP Dinarica route and tourist packages in which hiking and cycling are the supporting activities complemented by natural attractions and cultural heritage," explained Vujičić.

The realization of the activities planned by the project will, as she stated, lead to the improvement of cooperation between the activity holders of this region and the establishment of a partner network with the aim of project sustainability and the improvement and standardization of existing identified tourist products and services, as well as the improvement of the capacities of relevant actors based on innovative approaches and recognized need.

"Implementation of this project will encourage the strengthening of awareness of the economic, ecological and social benefits of this route, as well as the attractiveness and competitiveness of the tourist offer of the cross-border area between Montenegro and Kosovo with the aim of attracting visitors from local, international and regional markets, especially from the coast of the Adriatic Sea Vujacic pointed out.

She said that the implementation of the project started in March this year and will last 18 months.

The representative of PSCG, Vasilije Bušković, said that this association will work on the maintenance and arrangement of the trails, including signaling.

"We will also take part in the training for marking operators and the preparation of the map," Bušković added.

The CDF representative, Gramen Taraku, said that the organization deals with projects focused on economic development and tourism.

"This project "Across the peaks of the Dinarides - ViP DinaricA" is important for CDF and Kosovo because it meets the needs of the market. The tourism sector in Kosovo is a growing factor of the economy and has great potential for additional development," said Taraku.
