Scientist Dragan Hajduković requested that, with a special plaque, recognition be given to the individual vision and work that led to the Declaration on the Ecological State in 1991.
Hajduković, in an open letter to the president of the Assembly, Danijela Đurović, and the deputies, said that on September 20 this year, the new national holiday, Ecological State Day, will be celebrated for the first time.
He reminded that last year in Žabljak, the Assembly celebrated the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on the Ecological State.
According to Hajduković, although it was a celebration of 30 lost years, it is significant that the Assembly properly evaluated and reminded that the ecological state was and remains a visionary idea and project.
"If we are to judge by last year's Assembly and by all previous assemblies and governments of Montenegro, the vision of an "ecological state" fell from the sky by itself," said Hajduković.
He said that the book "Less than a game - more than a life" by the former president of Montenegro, Momir Bulatović, is proof that it is not so.
As reported, Bulatović wrote in that book that Hajduković, a "physicist with an astonishing power of imagination", presented the idea and indications of a program to declare Montenegro and make it the first Ecological State in the world in long conversations.
Hajduković stated that this historical testimony shows that the ecological state project did not fall from the sky, but that he had the initial luck that Bulatović had "enough poeticism and patience to feel the value of the vision that was explained to him in very long conversations". .
"Scientists and politicians are two completely different worlds, but a passage from Bulatović's book shows that an extremely rare miracle is possible, for a politician to understand what a scientist is telling him," stated Hajduković.
He said that without his initiative and the political power that Bulatović had at that moment, there would not have been the Assembly in Žabljak, the Declaration on the Ecological State, the later constitutional determination that Montenegro is an Ecological State, nor the new national holiday, the Day of the Ecological State of Montenegro.
As he stated, citizens of Montenegro over the age of 50, as witnesses of the time when the ecological state was at the center of social and media attention, personally know the truth that politicians "have been trying to erase from history and memory for the third decade".
"The current composition of the Assembly is knowingly or unknowingly an accomplice in this hiding and rewriting of history and disrespect for vision," said Hajduković.
He said that one cannot respect a vision if at the same time it does not respect the imagination, creativity and knowledge that led to that vision.
"In the name of something that is much more important than me, which is the respect of imagination, creativity and knowledge, I ask you that for the Day of the Ecological State, with an appropriate special plaque, acknowledge the individual visionary work and work that led to the Declaration on the Ecological State in 1991 and without which this new national holiday would not exist", concluded Hajduković.
