The grape festival is a combination of tradition, agricultural production and tourism, said the president of Bar Municipality Dušan Raičević at the opening of the event.
The second Grape Festival was held today in Virpazar, after a two-year break.
The event was organized under the auspices of the Municipality of Bar by the Tourist Organization of Bar and the Local Government of Crmnica.
The announcement of the Municipality of Bar states that the intention of the festival is to become traditional in this part of the Municipality of Bar.
In anticipation of the opening of the festival, Raičević, together with his associates, visited the local winery "Đurišić" in whose vineyards he symbolically started the grape harvest season by picking the first bunches of vines.
Raičević pointed out that this year the Municipality of Bar tried to organize a number of events in all tourist places.
"I am satisfied with the fact that these days the season in the Crmnica region is at full capacity, and expectations are that it will last until October. All of us together with our activities have led to the fact that the tourist season in Bar lasts for almost six months," said Raičević.
As reported, he said that they are aware of certain omissions and shortcomings, and that in the coming year they will work on correcting those problematic points.
"From this place, I am sending a clear message to the representatives of the National Park and the Government of Montenegro that the issue of Virpazar must be adequately resolved in the next season so that we do not welcome tourists with such problems next year," said Raičević.
The director of the Bar Tourist Organization, Ivan Kovač, said that they are trying to affirm this region and everything it has as much as possible.
"Everyone who comes has the opportunity to visit our coast, to try homemade prosciutto, wine and other products, but also to enjoy an active vacation, cruise the lake, tour the beautiful panoramic route between two magical coasts and other cultural, historical and natural heritage of this region. .” said Kovač.
The Municipality of Bar stated that local producers confirmed that Virpazar is one of the most attractive destinations in Bar for foreign tourists who are the most numerous these days on the shores of Lake Skadar, predominantly from England, Belgium, France and the Netherlands.
"For all visitors and guests at today's festival, in addition to the rich cultural and artistic program, free consumption of grapes and tasting of wine and local products was planned, in order to give citizens and tourists the best offer of the small farmers of this region. They also enjoyed the attraction of traditional stomping of grapes in barrels used to prepare the production of wine," the announcement states.
