The Minister of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism Ana Novaković Đurović congratulated the citizens of Montenegro on the Day of the Ecological State.
She pointed out that this is one of the most important holidays for Montenegro, which obliges us as a society to devote ourselves strongly to the preservation of the environment in which we live and turn to green development, which, as she said, is our future.
"Achieving high ecological standards requires both time and resources. Montenegro with its natural potentials, with adequate management, has every chance to be an example of a true ecological state," the congratulatory message states.
She emphasized that Montenegro is making strides in the field of environmental protection.
"National parks and protected areas on land and sea have become precious symbols of Montenegro and places where nature can be felt in its purest form," she added.
"However, we are aware that further and intensive protection of nature is needed. This is our obligation, but also an opportunity. Sustainable practices are an opportunity to create an economy that encourages growth, innovation and a better standard of living," concluded Novaković Đurović.
The declaration on the ecological state of Montenegro was adopted at the session of the republican parliament, which was held outdoors in Žabljak on September 20, 1991.
The declaration defines the strategic commitment of the state to adopt and apply the highest standards and norms in the field of environmental protection, nature conservation and economic development based on the principles of an ecologically sustainable system.
Last year, for the first time, September 20 was marked as a national holiday, the Ecological State Day.
