The Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North has supported water supply, wastewater treatment and waste management projects for the municipalities of Herceg Novi, Tuzi and Bar in the total amount of over six million euros, announced Minister Vladimir Martinović.

The mentioned municipalities have submitted requests to the Ministry for support of investments in the field of water supply, waste water and waste for the Capital Budget this year.

Martinović said that they supported the preparation of the Study on the establishment of the primary selection of municipal waste in Bar, the main project for the construction of the recycling yard and the expansion of the existing recycling center, as well as the implementation of the environmental impact assessment, in the amount of 170.000 euros.

"In the municipality of Herceg Novi, the multi-year problem of the Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) will be solved by the implementation of the reconstruction project. This infrastructural and ecological project is of great importance for the tourism of Herceg Novi and Montenegro in general, taking into account the huge participation of this city in total tourist traffic", said Martinović and added that the value of the reconstruction is almost 4,9 million euros, and that it represents a key step towards the stabilization and improvement of the operation of the plant, which will enable the fulfillment of strict legal standards related to wastewater treatment.

"The Ministry supported the project to adapt the water supply network in the Gornji and Donji Milješ settlements, as well as the reconstruction of the pipelines that supply the Kuće Rakića and Karabuško polje settlements. The value of the project in question is 1.141.614 euros. With this project, it is planned to significantly improve the quality of life of the local population, ensuring a reliable water supply in these settlements, and it is expected that this investment will have a positive impact on the tourist attraction of the region," the announcement reads.

The Ministry forwarded the requests for further implementation to the Directorate for Capital Projects, which will announce a tender in the earliest period.
