The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Montenegro will support the Human Resources Administration in capacity building this year, with a special focus on the introduction of gender principles in all segments of the institution's work, the UNDP Office in Montenegro announced.

It is reported that the permanent representative of UNDP in Montenegro, Ekaterina Paniklova, and the director of the Human Resources Administration, Agron Camaj, signed the partnership agreement for gender equality today, which marks the continuation of the long-standing strong partnership between UNDP and that institution.

"Promoting gender equality and empowering women is an important part of UNDP's mandate, which demonstrated its strategic approach to advancing the gender equality agenda by developing the "Gender Equality Standard (Seal) for Public Institutions" - a tool that ensures the integration of gender equality principles into the work of public institution", says the statement.

The UNDP Offices in Montenegro said that the agreement envisages joint work on establishing the highest international standards in the field of gender equality in all segments of the institution's work - decision-making processes, policy creation, work on capacity building and strategic planning.

The goal of that initiative, as they said, is for the Human Resources Administration to become an example of good management in accordance with the concept of human rights and gender equality, by strengthening the expertise of employees in the field of gender integration.

Paniklova emphasized that gender equality is an integral part of all aspects of UNDP's work and cooperation with partners.

"Our commitment to achieving gender equality is reflected in numerous initiatives aimed at empowering women, as well as strategic and continuous support for Montenegrin institutions that strive for reform, efficiency, inclusiveness and sustainable development," Paniklova said.

She said that with their partner on that path, the Human Resources Administration, they have already worked on empowering public servants in areas such as gender equality, gender-responsive communication and the fight against sexist hate speech.

"Recognizing that capacity building is an incentive for individual, organizational and systemic change, we are confident that we will jointly contribute to making gender equality more than a concept and become our reality," said Paniklova.

According to Camaj, state institutions must be sensitive to all forms of discrimination and inequality.

"And this must not be the obligation of only those institutions that, in their basic competences, deal with human rights. It is the duty of all of us to find a model to fight for a better society through our competences," said Camaj.
