from Nikšić Željko Vulanović he decided to build a cottage in the Banjan village of Busak, which is about thirty kilometers away from Nikšić. He had to carry almost all the material on his back because the village's forest road is impassable for cars. He proposed to the younger people who live in the city, but do not forget the old days, to rebuild the road, which they accepted without hesitation.

"We all immediately agreed with Željko's proposal, because it is really necessary to fix the road. The road is precisely one of the reasons why the village of Maltene was emptied and ten permanent residents remained in it. The road was built 50 years ago and has rarely been repaired, so today you cannot reach the village by car, but only on foot", one of the participants of the action told "Vijesti" Vladan Babić.

Fifteen of them, according to him, participated in the action, and in the collection of funds they also joined. Now they hope that the Municipality will help them, because they can no longer do it alone.

"We cleared the road of vegetation, bought filling material, stone, probably about 15 trucks. Slavko Babić he participates in the action both with his work and with his truck. Ovids, whose family is below Jelovica, also contributed financially, and to whom we owe special thanks. We hope that the municipalities will give us an excavator because we cannot do it manually, and the services of an hourly excavator are expensive. We would need a car, and there is less than a kilometer to go," says Babić.

They don't want, as he points out, the village to shut down completely, and without a road that will happen. The road, he believes, would return the descendants to the family estates, because there is interest. Now, in the summer, ten families come to the village, and the road would bring a few more families.

"The outflow of residents began in the seventies of the last century. Until seven or eight years ago, there was a school in the village that once had over a hundred students, but now there is no school or children. Although these are elderly households that spend the winter in the village, everyone is engaged in animal husbandry and agriculture. They produce cheese and meat, and they have an average of 20 sheep, ten cattle and a couple of horses," says Babić, who is engaged in beekeeping.

He points out that there are a lot of medicinal plants in the village and that the best quality honey in the region is from those areas, but that neither he, nor the others from the town who want to engage in beekeeping, and their ancestral home is in the spa village of Busak, can hardly transport the bees to there.

"The village is located under the Jelovica mountain, where the main road leading to the Njegoš mountain was located, where the Banjans had their katuns. Young people would also come back from the road, I mean in the summer and on weekends, because it would not be a problem for them to reach their old age and rebuild their houses. We are planning to build a village bister, because water is a big problem, as well as to try to provide solar panels through the relevant ministry. But first let's fix the road, because without a road we won't be able to do anything," says Babić.
