Democratic Montenegro condemned the attack on TV Vijesti journalist Alisa Hajdarpašić in Bijelo Polje.
"In the name of freedom of the media and democratic values, we condemn the attack, disparagement and impossibility of the work of TV Vijesti journalists by a group of people, encouraged by high-ranking officials of the Democratic Party of Socialists in Bijelo Polje. In recent days, since the arrests of top police officials began, clans and financiers of the Democratic Party of Socialists, the DPS shows its true face as an autocrat and false fighters for democracy and the rule of law," said Democrat MP Anđela Vojinović.
"The cowardly act of attacking a woman who was only doing her job in the public interest represents discriminatory and deeply unacceptable behavior that requires a decisive reaction from the competent institutions, in order to ensure the safety of journalists and to enable them to do their job without fear of repression and violence. We provide strong support to the female journalists who were victims of the attack, as well as to all journalists who bravely continue to do their work despite threats and pressures. Their work is of vital importance for our society and we stand with them in the fight for media freedom and democracy and human rights," the announcement states.
