On the initiative of the Municipality of Bar, a meeting of representatives of the local administration was held with representatives of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare and the Center for Social Work for the municipalities of Bar and Ulcinj, on the occasion of solving the housing situation of members of the Roma community, who were left without a roof over their heads due to a tragic fire in which their lives lost four people, two of whom were children, which broke out on February 15 this year in an informal settlement under the hill of Volujica in Bar, it was reported from that local self-government.
As they stated, through a very dedicated, constructive conversation, available information was exchanged and all aspects of institutional cooperation were discussed through joint action in the direction of expressing social responsibility towards this extremely complex issue.
"After a detailed analysis of all socio-economic factors, financial and infrastructural resources, as well as all available mechanisms of concrete action, both at the local and central level, the sequence of activities was agreed upon in order to resolve the situation of illegal housing of these Roma families as soon as possible" , they announced from the Municipality of Bar.
The Vice-President of the Municipality of Bar, Tanja Spičanović, emphasized once again the readiness of the Municipality to become financially involved as a partner in the realization of the project of adequate housing care for members of the Roma community, whereby the role of state administration bodies, which are responsible for handling such complex and urgent situations, is of crucial importance. .
As she stated, all entities involved in this process must be very careful in terms of following numerous procedures concerning state property, which means obtaining consent and harmonizing with planning documentation because these are the regulations that bind them.
At the meeting, it was concluded that it is necessary to include in this process the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, as an authority that performs tasks related to the social housing system, as well as the Administration for State Property, by providing proposals for locations and consent in order to ensure plots for the construction of residential units that would be assigned for use by vulnerable Roma families, said the Municipality of Bar.
