During half a century of its existence, the University of Montenegro (UCG) has become a beacon of knowledge and ideas, it was announced at the ceremony on the occasion of the UCG Day, where doctors of science were promoted, honorary degrees were presented and prizes were awarded to the best students.

UCG Rector Vladimir Božović said that UCG, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has become a beacon of knowledge and ideas and that today, like never before, courage and imagination are becoming key ingredients of universal social progress.

"It is precisely these qualities that reside in our student desks. Therefore, this jubilee is a call to everyone, especially our students, to break the bonds that keep society in outdated patterns, to pave the way to a developed and rich society with their energy and creativity," said Božović.

He said that if he had to describe this day, the place and those he is addressing in one word, then it would be exceptional, PR Center reports.

Božović emphasized that he is very honored to be able to address those who built and continue the tradition of excellence at the University of Montenegro.

"With your wholehearted help, I am sure that the best is yet to come," said Božović.

Professor Dr. Mladen Ulićević pointed out that he feels exalted because he received recognition and the honorary title of professor emeritus and assessed that all holders of that title have an additional obligation to promote and affirm the University.

"I share this plaque, this recognition with my colleagues from our home institution, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, because the key to success is in the original one - you have to give to get. Therefore, the key to success is giving and giving back," said Ulićević.

He said that the flywheel that moves the University must not stop.

The title of professor emeritus, apart from Ulićević, was given to professor Šerbo Rastoder.

Ilija Ćetković from the Institute of Marine Biology said that he was particularly pleased that he received his doctorate on the jubilee of UCG, with the message that the path of science is challenging, but not difficult, because every year of schooling gave him pleasure.

"I want to tell younger students that they should never be afraid to follow the path of science, but that this is exactly what they should do in order to achieve beautiful things in life. "Now I need to start the procedure for selection for a position at UCG, so I hope that this is the starting point in my future career," said Ćetković.

One of the best students at UCG is Helena Perović from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, who is currently doing her master's studies in Belgium.

She said that she put in a lot of effort and work, but that she enjoys doing mathematics, that she has the support of her family and friends, that her biggest goal is to always challenge herself and improve her knowledge.

"I think young people should not be afraid of mathematics. It is a wonderful science, mathematics is everywhere in nature. "Young people should look for interesting things in mathematics, not to be afraid when they see a lot of formulas," said Perović.

She said that she is now in Belgium, but that she would like to return to Montenegro.

"I would like to bring the acquired knowledge here and to motivate young people to love mathematics", said Perović.

The promoted doctors of science are Dragana Baćović from the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, Nevena Cupara, Ilija Ćetković, Antona Đokaj, Milica Jovanović, Anđela Mijanović and Milica Stanišić-Vujačić from the Faculty of Science and Mathematics.
