How to get a job, when they have a job, whether and what obstacles they encounter in the work environment, what challenges they face when it comes to partner relationships, are just some of the topics that the audience in Podgorica will have the opportunity to hear today, during the Human Rights Festival to see in the play "Some invalids again".
The play she directed Minja Novakovic, shows the life of people with disabilities, and the roles are authentically interpreted by them themselves: Miloš Spaić, Andrija Marićević, Tijana Janković, Katarina Cerović.
"Any project that promotes human rights, but in a realistic way, a project where I am pleased to make a modest contribution. Considering that I myself am a person with a disability, I try to portray this group in a realistic way in different fields and contribute to the equality of people with disabilities with the rest of the population - rights, but also obligations and responsibilities," one of the actors told "Vijesti", Miloš Spaić.
Culture, he adds, in this case theater productions, is one of the ways to achieve what he is talking about.
"Culture makes it special, and it was interesting for me to contribute to the promotion of human rights and the rights of persons with disabilities in that way as well. On the other hand, I had the opportunity to work as an amateur grom in several shows, so this was a new challenge for me in that field," he says.
He is not satisfied with how culture is generally listed in Montenegro.
"It is certainly necessary to make an extra effort in that segment, because culture is something that can show a lot of things in a wide range of ways, and in itself is a value and wealth that should be inherited and given a place and importance. The story of persons with disabilities and what relates to this group is very complex and I could talk about it at length. For this opportunity, I will say as much that the system in the part that refers to persons with disabilities must be changed quite a bit in order to reach, first, the so-called positive zero, and then to move towards, conditionally speaking, the developed world," says Spaić.
He does not deny that there is some progress, he says that it is thanks to the efforts of a few of them "who selflessly give themselves in order to achieve the ideal called equality and the fight against discrimination and prejudice".
He says that the problems must be systematically solved "in a high-quality and sustainable way".
Actor Andrija Marićević he is satisfied, because working on the play he had the opportunity to express his creativity through acting and writing.
"Through my role in the play, I point out the problems faced by people with disabilities when hiring and creating partnerships," he said.
Tijana Janković, actress, has a message for people with disabilities, but also for those without, for parents, for society in general:
"For me, participating in the play means to raise awareness among people without disabilities, that we are people like them, that our parents let us have our own lives, and to raise awareness among people with disabilities, that they should fight for their freedom. I think this play will prove that, that we can fight for our goals if we want to, since there are people among us who can, but don't want to".
Work on the play "Some invalids again" for the actress Katarina Cerović it's an opportunity, he says, to see what it's like to work with a professional director.
"This is something I believe in with all my heart and I am proud to be a part of a project like this and I would like to see more activities like this," she says.
Director Minja Novakovic She told "Vijesti" that while working on the play, they tried to jointly gain an insight into the everyday life of people with disabilities.
"The main focus was on the work process itself, where they primarily mastered basic acting and drama techniques. We created together and spontaneously chose the topics we deal with in the play," she said.
The Human Rights Festival, during which the play "Some Invalids Again" will be performed, is organized by the Non-Governmental Organization "Equivalent".
The festival is being held today, from 18:20 to XNUMX:XNUMX, in the "Museum and Gallery" premises in Podgorica.
After the performance, visitors will have the opportunity to hear recitations performed, with musical accompaniment by a mixed music group made up of people with and without disabilities.
In the final part, a photo exhibition will be presented, in which different forms of discrimination, which people with disabilities face every day, will be pointed out.
"The photos were created with the intention of showing the public what barriers people with different types of disabilities face in their everyday life. They arose spontaneously, in situations when people with disabilities wanted to access a public institution or to enter a shop, bar, or trade. In this way, through a practical example, we wanted to show how facilities in public use are still, unfortunately, inaccessible for people with disabilities, and how much PWDs are still discriminated against in this area, while the legislation tells us that since 2008 facilities that are in public use must be adapted to people with disabilities," the organization told "Vijesta".
The festival of human rights is organized by the NGO "Equivalent" in order to raise the awareness of the general public about respect for the human rights of persons with disabilities.
