The Directorate for Forest and Hunting Management announced that felled timber was confiscated in Jelovica, in Berane. They say that they successfully started "the fight against lawlessness and anarchy, which reigned in that area".
"The forest guard who is in charge of the area of the economic unit 'Jelovica', during an extraordinary check and tour of the field, found 20 cham logs without a forest mark and plastic plates for numbering and identification, and therefore without a certificate about the origin of the wood assortments, about which informed his superior. It was determined that the logs, in the amount of 16,32 m³ of net wood, came from the state forest. The Acting Director of the Management of Forests and Hunting Grounds, Mr. Miloš Rajković, was immediately informed, who further coordinated the action. announcement.
As they said, Rajković ordered that a special vehicle be provided for the first time and that the illegally cut logs be confiscated and permanently confiscated, in such a way that they will be urgently removed from the forest, transported and stored safely, and that the case be forwarded to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Berana for further action.
"With the successful coordination of Acting Director Rajković, the seized logs will be out of reach of forest thieves, which was never the case before, but would remain on the spot and then often be alienated again when there is no control," announced the Administration.
On this occasion, Rajković said that the intensive controls that have begun, as well as the replacement of managers in Mojkovac and Berane, are already yielding the first successful results.
"In particular, sudden controls on SAWMILLS will be introduced. Anyone who buys wood assortments from the owner without documentation will be severely sanctioned with a permanent ban on work! We will stand in the way of all those who think they are stronger than the state, and I know that the destruction of Montenegrin forests will be a thing of the past. With today's confiscation of illegal materials in Berane, we have shown that we can and will, and in the coming days we will continue with even greater intensity. I tell them that there are not and will not be untouchables, and the Administration will acquire a special vehicle in its possession and continue such actions," concluded Rajković.
