The regional program of local democracy in the Western Balkans 2 (ReLOaD 2) invited young people to apply for the "Sunny Camp of Tolerance", which will be organized in several locations throughout Montenegro this spring.

As announced by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Montenegro, at the two-day camp young people will learn about the fight against growing hate speech and divisive narratives, the importance of gender equality and how they can contribute to the prevention of discrimination on various grounds.

"The camp will be filled with recreational content such as games and quizzes, as well as conversations with successful young people who will share their personal experiences of fighting discrimination," the announcement states.

The invitation is open to young people aged 18 to 30 from Budva, Kotor, Herceg Novi, Podgorica, Cetinje, Zeta, Danilovgrad, Beran, Andrijevica, Kolašin, Mojkovac, Pljevlja, Nikšić and Plužin.

ReLOaD research on the needs of young people pointed to a widespread problem of division, which leads to an increase in hate speech and intolerance.

The findings of the focus groups showed that young people often do not appreciate diversity, have many prejudices against people with disabilities, or citizens from a lower social status.

In the research, young people recognized that they themselves, but also in cooperation with institutions, must work on accepting diversity and identified this topic of training.

"In this regard, the upcoming camps will strengthen their knowledge and skills in combating harmful narratives in the community," said UNDP.

The ReLOaD2 program, one of whose goals is to encourage youth participation in decision-making and community development, is financed by the European Union and implemented by UNDP in partnership with local governments.
