The monograph "University of Montenegro 1974-2024" brings reliable and systematized data on the origin, development, work and organization of the only state university, following all its changes over half a century, said Prof. Dr. Rajka Glušica, member of the Editorial Board, at the promotion of the Monograph, which gathered the academic community tonight in amphitheater 106 in the building of the Technical Faculty of the University of Montenegro (UCG).
"With over 300 pages of the Monograph, through numerous data and photographs, we get a complete picture of the state of the University in all stages of its development, but also a reminder of significant people, university professors, students and events that had a decisive influence on the fate of the University. The Monograph is a capital work that will to be the foundation of all future research on the most significant educational, scientific research and artistic institution in Montenegro", said Glušica, it was announced from UCG.
The announcement adds that the members of the Editorial Board who were active participants in the creation of this edition during the past year spoke at the promotion.
Prof. PhD Ljubiša Stanković, president of the Editorial Board of the Monograph, emphasized that the 50th anniversary of the University of Montenegro is certainly the most significant event in the country this year.
"The monograph that we are promoting was written in order to record and free from oblivion many important events from the half-century life of the University of Montenegro, related to its establishment, development, organization, reforms, in order to point out bright examples and achievements, as well as special social mission in the development of Montenegro and the re-completion of its thousand-year statehood, with minor historical interruptions," explained Stanković.
"The University of Montenegro, as the only state university, and until recently the only higher education institution in Montenegro, has a great social responsibility to ensure that all Montenegrin citizens who want to obtain higher education, who want to permanently learn and expand their knowledge, can do so. achieved at the highest level in Montenegro. And people and knowledge are the greatest potential and the best investment in the future of a society and country," Stanković said.
UCG said that the monograph also documents the importance of organizational units of the University, which have positioned themselves on the academic map of Europe through teaching, scientific research and project activities.
"Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come. Due to the maturation and needs of time and society, 27 years ago, the Faculty of Medicine of the UCG was founded and started working," pointed out prof. Dr. Miodrag Radunović, dean of the faculty, at the promotion.
"Strong in personnel and oriented towards science, we are moving in unison, creating for students a vision of the future based on humanity", said Radunović, presenting the programs of the Faculty of Medicine.
With over three thousand graduated students and constant infrastructure development, the Faculty, he believes, is constantly developing.
"By introducing specializations in all branches of medicine with the support of professors from eminent faculties in the region, we will enable quality education and transfer of knowledge, thereby retaining young colleagues in Montenegro. The conditions are created for them to realize their ambitions within the country with high-quality work valorization," said Radunović.
In addition to the scientific research and educational aspects, the Monograph also documents aspects of the evolution of the cultural and artistic life of Montenegro, which, according to Prof. Nikola Vukčević, Ph.D., clearly divides into the period "before and after the establishment of academic institutions for the education of artists in Montenegro".
"The establishment of the Academy of Music, the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Cetinje - there was an essential impetus for the development and further differentiation of artistic disciplines and educational profiles, as well as the creation of various complementary activities. The quality of education that these institutions offer today from a number of artistic disciplines stands out with several decades of experience, development of methods, international interaction and multidimensional communication with artistic practice, and - the mentioned institutions, without a doubt, have a key role in the formation of the entire cultural scene of Montenegro", said Vukčević.
Prof. Dr. Sonja Tomović-Šundić concluded that since its foundation in 1974, the University has been "a meeting place of knowledge and science, an academic community of lecturers and students, the password of our enlightenment, without which it is impossible to talk about spiritual and cultural, but also political and economic development of Montenegro. This The monograph is a synthesis of its development path and maturation into a respectable institution, an effort to make as comprehensive an overview as possible and valorize the most significant processes and their participants that have marked its half-century duration. With the intention of pointing out the main directions of its strategic activity in the XXI century."
