On the occasion of the national team day, the Secretariat for Sport and Youth of the Municipality of Pljevlja, in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Municipality of Žabljak, organized a Sports Fair today on the 13th of July Square in Pljevlja.
At the Fair, sports organizations from the territory of two municipalities presented their work and pointed out the importance of playing sports.
One of the goals of this event is the promotion of healthy lifestyles, as well as the exchange of ideas and experiences among athletes and sports fans.
"I would like to thank all the sports teams, our fellow citizens, and above all our children, for their engagement and attendance, which made this Sports Fair unforgettable. The fair is a unique opportunity for our sports clubs to promote their work and their achieved results. Let me mention that 16 sports organizations from Pljevlja and three from Žabljak exhibited at the Fair. As this Fair was held on the initiative of the relevant Ministry of Sports and Youth, we are pleased with the arrival of the Deputy Prime Minister for Demography and Youth and the Minister of Sports and Youth, Mr. Dragoslav Šćekić, who added to the importance of this event," said Milica Sekulić.
Milica Šljivančanin, secretary of the Secretariat for Social Activities in Žabljak, said that children and young people must feel the benefits of playing sports.
"I hope that today's fair will help children and young people to learn how to get involved in sports activities, how to maintain continuity in doing the same and, at the end of everything, how to feel all the benefits of doing sports," said Šljivančanin.
The Vice President of the Municipality of Pljevlja Darko Gazdić emphasized the importance of playing sports.
"Thank you all for promoting sports in this way and drawing children into some other more beautiful story and that children understand that sports is a beautiful divine discipline that makes many good people out of them," Gazdić pointed out.
Promoter of healthy lifestyles, physical education professor Danko Despotović, told young athletes not to give up on their goals.
Opening the event, Deputy Prime Minister for Demography and Youth and Minister of Sports and Youth Dragoslav Šćekić expressed his satisfaction that the National Team Day was celebrated in Pljevlja, a true city of sports.
"When we talk about national team members and outstanding athletes, talents from the north of Montenegro are an essential part, and Pljevlja is an important sports center. Top athletes started their careers here, who presented Pljevlja in the best light. As a country with a small population, we have notable results in the field of sports, which creates a greater obligation, both at the national and local levels, to create the best conditions for our athletes through the improvement of infrastructure and working methods. I use the opportunity to thank all the athletes and sports workers from Pljevlje, who contribute to the development of sports in Montenegro with their work, effort, dedication and commitment", Šćekić said.
