"Analyzing the situation, the Board of Directors unanimously decided after the vote that the club will not participate in the Euroleague next season due to financial reasons. Gran Canaria will play in the Eurocup again," announced the Spanish club, which scheduled a press conference for tomorrow.
In the middle of the previous month, information appeared that the team from the Canary Islands was thinking of giving up the Euroleague due to finances. But, in the meantime, Gran Canaria signed a sponsorship contract with the company Dreamland, so it was expected that the winner of the Eurocup would be a participant in the Euroleague from the following season. However, it will not come to that.
It is expected that, instead of Gran Canaria, a place in the Euroleague will go to Valencia. The final list of participants will be announced at the beginning of July.
Gran Canaria is in the 2018/2019 season. played Euroleague and finished the season in 14th place.
