The first round for the election of the president of the Basketball Association of Montenegro has failed, there won't be a second one.
The agenda of the KSCG Assembly, which was prepared, was not voted on, which is why there was no election for the most important role - the president of the Board of Directors.
34 members of the Assembly voted for the agenda, 35 were against, with eight abstaining.
Previously, the former head of the national house of basketball, Nikola Peković, and the former president of KSCG, Igor Lukšić, submitted their candidacy.
Since the agenda was not adopted, the celebrated basketball player remains in the position of president.
"The agenda of the Assembly of the Basketball Association of Montenegro has not been adopted. A new Assembly of the Basketball Association will be scheduled within a reasonable time," announced the KSCG.
The mandate of the current members of the KSCG Board of Directors expired in January, while Peković succeeded Veselin Barović as president on May 24, 2021.
He is the only one still in office, which is why in the coming days, most likely already on Monday, he will schedule a session of the Assembly, at which the new Management Board will be elected.
Therefore, Peković remains the president, and he could be replaced only if his proposal for new members of the Supervisory Board is not voted.
