After the first half, there was no hint that the Buducnost Volija basketball players would experience a debacle in the Canary Islands - Gran Canaria had a five-point advantage (49:44), and the Montenegrin champion offered good resistance to the current Eurocup champion during the first 20 minutes.
However, in the sequel, the story, which has been following the Podgorica team since the beginning of the season, was repeated once again - the third quarter was desperate, and Budućnost was disjointed. Gran Canaria used all the mistakes of the "blues" and inflicted a convincing defeat on them in the 9th round of the Eurocup - 97:70.
Bućućnost looked bad in the second half, especially in the third quarter when they made a lot of mistakes in attack, and inattention in defense at certain moments allowed Granka to get a convincing lead and save the maximum score in the Eurocup.
On the wings of Marvin Jones, Andrej Jakelj's team offered good resistance to the favorite in the first quarter. 16:8 series (all eight points by Landsberg) reached a lead of 0:25.
At the beginning of the second quarter, after a point by Roko Prkačin, the home team was again on plus seven (30:23), and then Brandon Paul responded. After his third three-pointer, Buducnost got to minus two (38:36), and after McKinley Wright's free throws, the score was tied for the last time (41:41, two minutes and 17 seconds until the end of the 1st half).
In the continuation, the game of Buducnosti fell apart - Granka gained a double-digit advantage for the first time (58:48) after Nikolas Brusin's point, which grew from that moment to the final 97:70.
Buducnost scored a total of 26 points in the second half.
Halfway through the group stage, Budućnost, which has high ambitions in this competition, is close to three wins and six losses. Podgorica suffered their fifth defeat in a row away from home in the Eurocup this season, and their tenth including the last one.
Marvin Jones was the most efficient and the only one with double figures for Buducnost with 22 points.
In Gran Canaria, Landsberg was the most effective with 18 points. Montenegrin basketball player Jovan Kljajić finished the game with eight points.
