Unlike the first match, which was decided in the very end, there was no excitement in the second quarter-final match of the AdmiralBet ABA League - SC Derby lost to Crvena Zvezda (77:92) tonight in "Morača" and ended the season in the regional competition.
SC Derby started the season by winning the ABA Supercup, during the season they changed their coach, because Andrej Žakelj left for Buducnost Voli, and he was succeeded by Dejan Jakara, with whom the "students" played in the playoffs for the second year in a row and fulfilled their goal in AdmiralBet ABA league.
The "Students" have to wait for the end of the regular part of the First Montenegrin Basketball League (they won the Cup), because they only join the competition from the semi-finals.
Zvezda took a 6:0 lead at the start, 13:5 after Gedraitis' triple, and after a 6:0 run and an additional free throw by Nemanja Nedović, they gained 12 points - 22:10.
SC Derbi entered the game softly, committed the first foul after almost seven minutes, and did not even use the bonus in the first quarter. Dejan Jakara's team also had problems in attack, missed some shots, and lost balls were a big problem.
When Javonte Smart scored points at the beginning of the second quarter, the "red and white" had a plus 21 - 35:14. Then came the reaction of the "students", who made a series of 7:0 and reached 35:21, and after Mateo Drežnjak's triple, they came to minus 12 - 42:30.
That was the last significant addition of the home team - Zvezda made an 8:0 run, gained a 20-point lead (50:30), and went into halftime with a plus 23 - 57:34.
In the second half, the advantage of Zvezda went up to 28 points.
Drežnjak scored 19 points and was the most effective at SC Derby. Nikola Pavlićević had 13, and Luka Bogavac 10.
At Zvezda, Jago dos Santos was the most effective with 17 points.
Zvezda will play against Mega in the semi-finals, while Partizan and Budućnost Voli are the other pair.
