Basketball club Crvena zvezda announced today that it has suspended its team manager Nebojša Ilić, who was detained for a traffic violation.
"KK Crvena zvezda informs the public that it has suspended our club member Nebojša Ilić for a period of 72 hours, pending the determination of the facts," according to a statement on the club's website. As reported by the Belgrade media, Ilić was detained for fleeing the police, driving in the opposite direction and driving under the influence of alcohol. "Nebojša Ilić committed a traffic violation as a private person on Wednesday in the afternoon in Belgrade. After talking with Nebojša Ilić and gathering all the facts and data, the club sanctioned him for irresponsible behavior," added the statement from the red and whites. Ilić has been the team manager of the Crvena Zvezda basketball club since 2001 and has the longest tenure at the club. He is also the team manager of the Serbian national team.
