Oklahoma basketball coach Mark Degnolt was named the best coach in the NBA, the competition reported.
In his fourth season on Oklahoma's bench, Degnolt led the team to first place in the league part of the season in the Western Conference with 57 wins and 25 losses.
He won 89 of a possible 100 votes, and with a total of 473 points became the second Oklahoma coach, after Scott Brooks, to win this distinction.
Degnolt celebrated in front of Minnesota coach Chris Finch and Orlando coach Jamal Mosley.
With Minnesota, Finch took third place in the West with a record of 56 wins and 26 losses, and in the first round of the playoffs, Minnesota eliminated Phoenix and advanced to the semifinals of the Western Conference.
Mosley led Orlando to a fifth-place finish in the Eastern Conference with 47 wins and 35 losses.
