Barcelona football club president Joan Laporta said today that his club will demand a replay of the match against Real Madrid, if it is proven that the referee made a mistake when he did not recognize Lamina Jamal's goal.
Real's goalkeeper Andrij Lunjin intervened on the goal line in the 28th minute, and VAR could not confirm that the ball crossed the goal line with its entire circumference and the referee ruled that there was no goal.
Unlike other major championships, Primera does not use goal-line technology, which Primera president Javier Tebas considers too expensive, but which enables automatic resolution of such situations.
A day after the match in which Barcelona was defeated by Real with 3:2, Laporta asked the Spanish Football Association and the refereeing commission to send to Barcelona all the pictures of the disputed situation and audio recordings of the officials.
"If, after analyzing the documentation, it is confirmed that there was an error, we will take all necessary measures to reverse the situation, not excluding legal actions that would be necessary. If it is confirmed that the goal was valid, we will ask for the match to be replayed," said Laporta.
