Ralf Rangnik, coach of the Austrian national football team, confirmed today that there was contact with Bayern Munich, but not that he agreed to take over that club starting next season.
"There was contact with Bayern," said Rangnik in an interview with the Austrian website 90minuten.at, which was reported by the German media today.
He said that he informed the Football Association of Austria about Bayern's interest, but also pointed out that at the moment there is no reason to deal with it "intensely and concretely".
Asked when that moment would come, Rangnik replied: "If Bayern told me: 'We want you'. Then I would have to ask myself: 'Do I even want it'".
Bayern Munich is looking for a new coach since Thomas Tuchel will leave the bench of the Munich club at the end of the season.
Rangnik emerged as a new candidate to take over Bayern after the Bavarian club, according to the media, ran out of first three options.
First, Xabi Alonso decided to stay at Bayer Leverkusen, then Julian Nagelsmann extended his contract with the German national team until 2026, and finally Unaj Emery decided to stay at Aston Villa.
