Families with eight children used to be quite common in Montenegro, today they are a rarity. And the family as it is Radomir i Svetlana Corovic there were none from Nikšić, nor are there any, because it is unique, unrepeatable - in a sporty, handball way.
Nataša for the second season, she wears the Buducnost Bemax jersey, and with the "lionesses" she won a sensational bronze at the European Championship in Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro. Snow White is a member of the junior national team, Jakov the best scorer of the Cadet League, in which his twin also plays Ognjen, and from this season on the big stage is also Nada.
The girl who was the best player of the First League in the 2019/2020 season. reached one of the strongest leagues in Europe via a detour, via Slovakian Juventus and Jagodina, and played for Besançon. With the editions in the jersey for the championship of France and the European League, she drew the attention of the selectors as well Bojana Popović, so she was at a gathering during the previous EHF week, at the end of February and beginning of March, and tonight she will make her debut against Norway in the small town of Ersta (19.15:XNUMX p.m.).
- All the girls accepted me nicely. We've known each other for a long time, I don't feel like I'm new, but like we've been working and training together for a long time. It really helped me a lot that Nataša was there before me, so I was well informed about the system. By the way, I worked with Bojan when I was in the cadet national team, nothing was unknown to me, I knew everything well - the 22-year-old Nikšić woman told "Vijesti".
And the debut could not be against a more difficult rival - the current world and European champion, a team that constantly wins medals at major competitions.
- I should first get minutes, then try to fit into the team as well as possible. And Norway is really an inconvenient opponent to expect anything from. I hope that I will go to the first big competition, that I will become a standard member of the national team, and not just be there to replace someone. And, of course, I dream of a medal, an appearance at the Olympic Games...
With her one and a half year older sister Nataša, she formed a tandem in the positions of left and middle back in Levale, whose coach Dragan Đurđevac stands out in particular.
- I literally only have words of praise for coach Dragan. He directed me the most about what and what I should work on, I made the most progress with him and devoted myself to handball. He gave me confidence when I started playing in the First League. He has great merits for mine and Natasha's career, just as Snežani is also very important now.
Handball was a natural choice for Nada, as it was for other Ćorovići born after her.
- We are eight children, and only the oldest of us, Jovana, she did not play handball. Somehow, we have been taught to play sports, especially handball, since childhood. Our parents were not professionally involved in sports, but they started together first Zorana i Gordana with friends from the neighborhood, then Nataša, then me. Snežana also liked it, and then Jakov also started playing handball. Ognjen first trained in football, but later he also decided to play handball.
It was not only the family "tradition" that drew Nataša and Nada into this sport, but also the successes of the "lionesses".
- Nataša and I started training in the period when our handball was on the rise. Winning medals in 2012 had a lot of influence on us moving even more and focusing on handball. Until then, the choice was school or handball, but then we still devoted ourselves to sports.
In the summer of 2020, after a break due to the coronavirus, Nada went to Slovakia's Juventus. She was 19 years old, she did not like being separated from her family.
- If anyone bothered, it was me. I made a wrong step by going to Slovakia. I was not prepared for that, nor was I informed about what was waiting for me. I was like I fell from Mars. It was a shock for me, I couldn't cope, I felt bad and we agreed to terminate the contract by mutual agreement. I went to Jagodina, where I spent a year and a half and progressed, had a lot of minutes. By the way, I was close to home, I could often come and be in contact with my family, that really meant a lot to me.
After two double crowns in Serbia, the call came from the four-time champion of France and the club that won the Cup Winners' Cup in 2003, when his jersey was worn by the legendary Svetlana Mugoša Antić.
- It's beautiful in France. I managed very well, they welcomed me brilliantly. The agreement was that I would spend the first half of the year in adaptation, I didn't even expect to play, but very quickly I started to share minutes in the position of left back with a teammate from France. In January and February, I played a lot in the European League.
Nada is one of the few Montenegrin players who made it to the national team without ever wearing the Budućnosti jersey, even in the younger categories. He hopes, however, that one day he will wear the jersey of the most trophy-winning Montenegrin club.
- Who wouldn't like to play in the Champions League and be at home? One of my wishes is to return to Montenegro and play for Buducnost, but also to fill the hall like it used to be, not to be like recently in the round of 180 against Ferencvaros. I want to try myself in the Champions League, my goal is not to stay at the level I'm at now - a 23-centimeter-tall girl who scored XNUMX goals in the French championship is honest.
Brother Jakov is the greatest hope
Of the five Ćorovics currently playing handball, Nataša is the most famous, as she is already on the big stage for the second season. She plays in the middle back position, and the others cover the left side - Nada and 15-year-old Jakov are the backs, his twin Ognjen and Snežana, who is three years older, are the wings.
Jakov is the top scorer of the Cadet League with 168 goals in 17 games. Once he entered the list of scorers 16 times, three times with 15, two with 14... By the way, he also played for the seniors of Sutjeska in the Cup of Montenegro and scored nine goals in two games, and contributed to the victory with a perfect 5-5 from sevens against Budućnosti and placement in the final tournament in "Bemax Arena" on May 20 and 21.
- I put all my hopes in Jakov. I just need to take him "under my wing" this summer, let's work a little in the gym - Nada answers with a smile when asked which of them can make the best career.
