Slovenia celebrates its handball players - the team led by Montenegrin coach Dragan Adžić is the first women's national team of that country to compete in team sports at the Olympic Games.
The Slovenian women wrote a moment for history in a direct duel for Paris with Montenegro - they were better during all 60 minutes and fully deserved they will be at the opening ceremony of the Games in Paris on July 26.
"Since he arrived at the position of coach, Dragan Adžić has opened our eyes and taught us to believe in success," Slovenian goalkeeper Amra Pandžić praised the expert who made history with Montenegro 12 years ago.
It is known that Montenegrin handball players are nicknamed "lionesses", and Nataša Ljepoja believes that it was her friends and her in Ulm.
"We fought like lionesses and we showed it on the field... I don't think we are yet aware of what a success we made, and how much everything means to us is perhaps best told by the tears in our eyes during the last two minutes of the game," Ljepoja pointed out, citing RTV Slovenia.
In 2012, Dragan Adžić brought the only Olympic medal to Montenegro, and now he has written a historic Olympic story with Slovenia as well. The media in that country emphasize that he did not succumb to euphoria at the end of the game and remind that he won a silver medal with Montenegro in London.
"We controlled the game for the whole 60 minutes, even though it was incredibly difficult - all this shows the phenomenal stability of this team. All the decisive games since my arrival, these girls have played excellently," Adžić said.
Slovenia without the transfer of historic success, welcome today
Handball players from Slovenia became the first women's team from that country to qualify for the Olympic Games, but no one in the country could watch the moments of history on TV.
According to "Delo", Slovenia will try to correct such an injustice today when the heroine from Ulm is scheduled to be welcomed at the Jože Pučnik Airport.
