The start of the 108th "Tour de France" was bloody - in two massive crashes, most of the 184 participants of the most prestigious cycling race in the world fell, and the victory was taken by the best domestic hope for the title, Julien Alaphilippe, with a great sprint on the climb at the finish.
The first accident happened when a fan knocked down Toni Martin from Jumbo Visma with a cardboard panel, and the second on the downhill, when the drivers flew over each other.
Last year's best Slovenians Tadej Pogačar and Primož Roglič crossed the finish line of the stage from Brest to Landorno, eight seconds behind Alafilip.
