Slovenian cyclist Primož Roglič has recovered from the injury he suffered at this year's Tour d'France and will fight for the fourth consecutive title at the Spanish Vuelta, his team Jambo Visma announced today.
Roglič dislocated his shoulder and injured his back when he fell in the fifth stage of the Tour, but despite this, he stayed to help the team, riding until the 14th stage.
Jumbo Wisma eventually went to overall Tour winner Denmark's Jonas Vingegard, while Belgium's Vut Van Art won the green jersey for the rider with the most points.
"We are happy that Primož will be able to start the Vuelta after a serious injury at the Tour. Logically, his preparations could not have been ideal, but we really appreciate the fact that he managed to recover and prepare. We have a good, balanced team that can help Primož in all situations," said the team's sports director Merijn Zeman.
The Vuelta is scheduled from August 19 to September 11. The race is 3280,5 kilometers long, and will start from Utrecht, through whose streets a team time trial of 19 km will be run on Friday, August 23,3, and the next two stages will be in the Netherlands, before moving to Spain.
