From April 27 to May 4, Herceg Novi will host four league club chess competitions - the Premier, First, Women's and Pioneer Leagues, the Chess Federation announced.
Prosvjeta, Rudar, Budućnost, Mladost, Mimoza, Crnogorac, Nikšić, Omladinac Budućnost, Elektroprivreda and Herceg Novi will perform in the Premier League, according to the numbers drawn today.
It is expected that the fight for the prestigious cup will be between Buducnosti, which will be led by grandmasters Robert Markuš and Nikola Đukić, Elektroprivreda, which will be represented by Denis Kadrić, Nikita Petrov and Luka Drašković, Herceg Novi, which has five grandmasters in its composition, and the former European champion, Ivan Šarić .
The defending champions, the Montenegrin team from Cetinje, are among the favorites. Two teams are relegated from the league, and the fight for survival will be interesting.
In the First League, the teams of Zora, Zeta, Diagonal, Beran, Rokada, Ladies, Rumija, Cetinje, Primary and Secondary Schools and 7 October will compete.
Ten teams will fight for the two places that lead to the Premier League, and Zora, Zeta and Dama stand out as the most serious candidates. The two weakest teams will move to the Second League.
The women's league will have six clubs - Budućnost, Crnogorac, Elektroprivreda, Herceg Novi, Dama and University of Montenegro. The title is defended by the Elektroprivreda team.
The spectacle in Herceg Novi will be completed by the Pioneer League with 13 teams. Mladost from Nikšić will have three teams, Budućnost and Diagonale, two each, and Elektroprivreda, Nikšić, Rumija, Dama, Herceg Novi and Šavnik one each.
The organizer of the competition is the Chess Association of Montenegro, in cooperation with the Municipality of Herceg Novi and the Ministry of Sports and Youth
