Janik Siner had a lot of problems against Holger Rune, but the winning mentality made the difference even when it didn't work out.
The Italian eliminated the Dane in three sets (6:4, 6:7, 6:3) after two hours and 40 minutes, and by qualifying for the semifinals of the Masters in Monte Carlo, he retained second place on the ATP list.
One break in the first set (for 3:2) was enough for Siner to take the lead, and in the tie-break of the second he had two match points.
However, Rune did not give up, he found a way to equalize and return to the match, and at one point in the decisive set, it seemed that he had the game to eliminate Siner.
The second racket in the world thundered over the break point in the fifth game, and then took away the opponent's serve at the ideal moment - he led 5:3 and brought the match to an end.
