The third tennis player in the world, Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, will miss the tournament in Barcelona due to an injury to his right forearm, which forced him to withdraw from the Masters in Monte Carlo.
Alcaraz, a two-time Grand Slam champion and former number one, won the tournament in Barcelona twice - in 2022 and 2023.
Alkaras made his last appearance before the injury last month, when he was defeated by Grigor Dimitrov in the Miami quarterfinals.
Alkaras won the only trophy this season in Indian Wells.
