Entrepreneur, landowner and politician from Russia Anton Bakov bought land in the town of Pandurica near Nikšić, where he intends to build a Russian imperial palace.

Bakov, who claims to be the trustee of the descendants of the imperial Romanov dynasty, told Montenegrin journalists that he bought 96 hectares of land, where he plans to build a complex worth, as he says, several billion euros, in which, in addition to the imperial castle, there will also be a cultural center and monastery complex.

However, he did not want to announce how much money he allocated for the land in the immediate vicinity of the famous Emperor's Bridge near Nikšić.

"This is a business secret," Bakov announced.

He stated that he had already spoken with the Nikšić mayor, Veselin Grbović, about the intention to build, and that he had received a "basic permit" from him, but no formal permits.

"The day before yesterday I spoke with the mayor of Nikšić, but the basic permit did not result in the signing of official documents," said Bakov. The answer to the letter he sent to the Government is still pending.

"Clerks are not in a hurry. If I were a clerk, I wouldn't be in a hurry to answer either," he jokingly commented on the "Vijesti" question.

He said that he chose Montenegro because of the historical ties between the two countries.

"The most deserving person for obtaining Montenegrin statehood on the international level was Emperor Alexander III Romanov. He has a big monument in Sofia. I'm sorry that there is no similar monument in Montenegro either, because he did more for it than Visocki or Pushkin," Bakov said.

He said that the location of the Emperor's Bridge in Nikšić also inspired him to choose Montenegro

"We like to hang out with everyone"

When asked by a journalist why he did not choose Serbia for the construction project, Bakov gave pragmatic reasons:

"Serbia is angry with the European Union (EU) and the EU is angry with Serbia. We don't like to fight, but to be good with everyone," said Bakov.

Bakov said that his party, the Russian Monarchist Party, has 80.000 members, although it has not yet participated in the elections. He showed a document of the Russian Ministry of Justice with a list of political parties, in which his party is in the 33rd position.

"Thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin for allowing us to register the party," he added.
