Russia is planning a protracted campaign of Iranian drone strikes to "wear out" Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
"We have information that Russia is planning a prolonged attack using Shahed drones. It is probably relying on exhaustion - of our people, of our air defenses, of our energy," Zelensky said in his nightly video address.
He added that Ukraine is acting and doing everything so that "terrorists do not succeed in their goal, just as all their others failed."
Russia continues to target Ukraine's key infrastructure, and a series of drone attacks targeted Kiev and the wider city area.
At the same time, fierce fighting is taking place around Bahmut in the east, N1 reported.

A Ukrainian drone attack damaged a power plant in the southwest of Russia, in the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine andOn this occasion, the electricity supply was interrupted for several hours, said regional governor Alexandar Bogomaz, as reported by Reuters.

The Ministry of Defense of Russia announced that 63 Russian soldiers were killed in a Ukrainian missile attack on their temporary accommodation in the city of Makeyevka, Reuters reports.
Makeyevka is a town in the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine's Donetsk region.
Ukraine previously reported that around 400 Russian soldiers were killed in a rocket attack on the occupied Donetsk region.
The missile targeted a building in the town of Makejevka where Russian forces were reportedly stationed.
The mayor of Kyiv, Vitalii Klitschko, announced that last night 40 Russian drones headed towards Kyiv.
Referring to the data of the Ukrainian air defense, he said that 15 drones were destroyed over the regions near Kiev, that three were destroyed in the Kyiv region, as well as 22 drones over the capital of Ukraine.
Klitschko also stated that a 46-year-old man, who was seriously injured during the Russian attack on the capital on December 31, died this morning.
A new air attack on Kiev was carried out at dawn this morning, after New Year's Day with a dozen Russian strikes that killed four people in the capital and elsewhere in the country.
The head of Kyiv's military administration, Serhiy Popko, warned citizens to stay in shelters while the military administration said 12 air targets were shot down over the capital.
Kyiv Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said explosions were heard in the Desniyansky district northeast of the capital. He said a 19-year-old man was injured by broken glass and taken to hospital.
Rocket attacks on Kiev and other areas ahead of New Year 2023 have already killed at least four people and wounded 50, according to Ukrainian authorities.
Moscow, for its part, announced that it targeted installations for the production of unmanned aerial vehicles yesterday.
