One person was killed and two were wounded in the Ukrainian shelling of the Russian village of Chausi in the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine, the governor of that region said.

"The armed forces of Ukraine shelled the village of Chausi, in the Pogar district," Alexander Bogomaz wrote on Telegram, Reuters reports.

"Unfortunately, as a result of the shelling, one man was killed and two locals were injured. Shelling of Russian territory along the Ukrainian border has become common in recent months in the war in Ukraine, which it calls a "special military operation."

Today, Ukraine announced the formation of a "humanitarian corridor" in order to send several dozen cargo ships captured in Ukrainian ports since the outbreak of the war to the Black Sea.

In the Black Sea, routes have been under surveillance since Russia left the Grain Agreement, reports Reuters.

The formation of the corridor most likely refers to the hills that have been in Ukraine's Black Sea ports since February 2022 and are not covered by the agreement that allowed the export of grain from war-torn Ukraine.

The US is providing another $200 million in additional military aid to Ukraine in a package that is expected to include more HIMARS missiles and more ammunition for Patriot defense systems, Voice of America has learned.

Two officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said ahead of the announcement of the new aid package this Sunday that mine-clearing equipment and anti-tank weapons would also be sent.

It will be the 44th time that the US President has approved allocations for Ukraine from the Defense Department's inventory.

The death toll from a Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Zaporozhye on Wednesday rose to three.

Reuters reports, citing Ukrainian officials, that two young women and one man were killed, and nine people were wounded.

A Reuters reporter at the scene saw emergency workers lift the body, place it on a stretcher and wrap it in a black bag.

Rescuers inspected the ruins, and an ambulance was parked near the damaged buildings.

"Three people were killed and nine were injured, including an 11-month-old baby - this is the result of an attack on the regional center," according to a statement from the office of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

"A Russian shell took the lives of a 43-year-old man and girls aged 19 and 21."

Officials said two people were killed at the scene and a woman died overnight in hospital.

In the video released by Zelenski, smoke can be seen rising from the burning and badly damaged buildings next to the church.

Zaporozhye city council secretary Anatolij Kurtev said that the church was destroyed and about 15 tall buildings were damaged.

Authorities received requests from tenants of at least 400 apartments to repair broken windows and damaged balconies.

Pictures posted by city officials on the Telegram messaging app showed several buses and a row of folding tables and chairs set up outside damaged buildings where residents and city workers filled out paperwork to record the damage.

Ukrainian officials have reported a recent increase in the amount of Russian shelling of the Zaporozhye region in the south.

Zelenskiy's office announced that in the past 24 hours, the Russian army carried out 82 strikes on 21 villages and towns throughout the Zaporizhia region, using artillery, rockets and drones.

The Ukrainian military launched an offensive against occupying Russian forces in the key region of Zaporozhye in early summer and reported steady progress in that direction.

Sevastopol is located on the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, which was occupied by Russia.
