In a post on the Telegram messaging app, southern military forces said they had intercepted nine drones in Odesa, but one crashed into an area near the port, causing a fire.

Firefighters recovered one body and said people may still be under the rubble as emergency crews battled to contain the blaze. The security guard from the building was rescued unharmed, the post says.

"The bodies of two more people were found under the rubble," Kiper, the regional governor, said on Telegram.

A total of three people died as a result of the enemy attack.

The military said missiles were also used in the attack but did not hit any targets. Photos released by the military show extensive damage to buildings in the area and rescue teams working their way through the rubble.

In the central city of Dnipro, a Russian drone crashed into a multi-story residential building, injuring eight people, the regional governor said.

Serhiy Lisak, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk region, wrote on Telegram that the search lasted all night and that other residents may still be under the rubble.
