A fire broke out in the building of the old stock exchange in Copenhagen, one of the most famous buildings of the Danish capital, engulfing its tower, which collapsed onto the roof. There are no reports of injuries.
Live footage from local media showed people carrying large paintings from the building to save them from the flames.
The historic building, whose tower was shaped like the intertwined tails of four dragons, was undergoing renovations when the fire broke out.
The building, built in the Dutch Renaissance style, no longer houses the Danish Stock Exchange, but serves as the headquarters of the Danish Chamber of Commerce, writes the Guardian.
"We were greeted by a terrible sight. The stock market is burning", it was written on the profile of the Chamber of Commerce on the social network Iks.
The police in Copenhagen asked people to avoid driving around the building, reports N1.
