Polish President Andrzej Duda said today that his country is "ready" to welcome nuclear weapons on its territory if NATO, of which Poland is a member, decides to strengthen its eastern wing.
"If our allies decide to deploy nuclear weapons as part of a nuclear exchange on our territory in order to strengthen the security of NATO's eastern flank, we are ready to do so," Duda told Fakt newspaper.
NATO's eastern wing is faced with the deployment of new Russian weapons in neighboring Kaliningrad, as well as in Belarus.

The Kremlin has announced that the Russian military will analyze any move by Poland to host American nuclear weapons, Reuters reported.
The Polish president, Andrzej Duda, quoted by the "Fakt" newspaper, said that Poland is ready to talk with the United States about the placement of nuclear weapons in order to strengthen NATO's eastern wing.
Asked about the report, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said: "The military will analyze the situation. If these plans are implemented, all necessary steps will be taken to ensure our security."
