An assistant member of the European Parliament (EP) from the far-right German party AfD was arrested in Germany on suspicion of spying for China, German prosecutors announced today.
Djijan G is accused of spying on China's opponents in Germany and of sharing information about the European Parliament with the Chinese intelligence service, the prosecution said in a statement.
The accused worked as an assistant to MEP Maksimilian Krah, who is at the head of the AfD list for the next European elections.
