Energy installations were seized today after a drone attack in the Russian region of Smolensk, about 400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, regional governor Vasiliy Anokhin said.
"Our region is again targeted by Ukrainian drones," the governor wrote on Telegram.
The governor said that the fires probably broke out after "hostile attacks on civilian locations of the energy infrastructure", without specifying which facilities were involved. He added that there were no victims in the attack.
Another drone today hit the special economic zone of the city of Lipetsk, which is also located about 400 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, but further south, where metallurgical and pharmaceutical companies are located, the governor of that area, Igor Artamonov, wrote on Telegram.
"The criminal Kyiv regime tried to hit the infrastructure in the Lipetsk industrial zone," Artamonov said.
He said that there were no casualties and that residential areas were not under threat.
In recent months, the Ukrainian military has increased the number of drone attacks on Russian territory, specifically targeting energy installations.
