The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army, General Oleksandr Sirsky, said today that the situation at the front has worsened because Russian forces have achieved "tactical successes in several areas".
Russia is "actively attacking along the entire front line, achieving tactical successes in certain sectors," Sirski wrote on Facebook.
"In an attempt to take the strategic initiative and break through the front line, the enemy has concentrated its efforts on several sectors, thus creating a significant advantage in terms of forces and assets," the Ukrainian general added.
Sirski said that fierce battles have been fought on the front in recent weeks and added that the Ukrainian forces still manage to "improve their tactical position" in some areas.
Among the areas where the fighting is most intense is the Kupijanska sector, in the north-east of the country, where the Russians "had partial success, but were also stopped", said General Sirski.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine began at the end of February 2022.
