The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said yesterday that the great Easter Assembly of Serbia and Republika Srpska will be held on May 5 and 6 in Belgrade and other parts of the country.
Such a conclusion was agreed upon, as announced by Vučić's cabinet, after several hours of talks he had with the President of the Republic of Srpska Milorad Dodik, with the presence of the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Porfiri.
"At that Parliament, important decisions will be made about the survival of the Serbian people in their hearths, their economic progress, the preservation of the Serbian language and the Cyrillic alphabet, and the common cultural heritage," the announcement states.
The new Government of Serbia and the Government of Srpska, as it is added, will prepare a declaration and possibly other general legal acts that will be submitted in the same text for adoption by the Assemblies of Serbia and Republika Srpska.
"We informed the Serbian Patriarch Mr. Porfiri about the gravity of the political situation in which the entire Serbian people find themselves and asked His Holiness for the blessing and support of the Serbian Orthodox Church. We will inform the public about all other details in the coming period," the announcement reads.
